They sound gorgeous and aren't they lucky that you have so many mature trees.

Hmmm... We had beautiful spring conditions here too. I only saw a couple of blue jays but a LOT of squirrels. They were super-active today, running around climbing the walls of the houses. I even saw one basking in the sun on the fence. I guess we weren't the only ones enjoying the nice weather.

Hi Mary, we actually share the same name! I heard about the snowstorm on Wednesday. We're suppose to get 15 cm of snow. That usually translates to a foot and a half! Hope our flight doesn't get delayed or cancelled. : (

This stinks! I really wish spring would get here, already. We're supposed to get 8 inches of snow along with an ice storm on this side of the lake. Good times.

There were several small moths on the storm door this morning - under the porch light. Boy are they going to have a rude awakening tomorrow when it's cold and snow again. BUT TODAY - warm and partly sunny. I'll take it!

We have bluejays and woodpeckers year around here. The real harbinger of spring is when the hummingbirds show up, usually around May or June. Our apricot, cherry and almond trees are in full bloom now. Usually when this happens we get a freeze before the blossoms set and they all die off and no fruit. We'll just have to see what happens this year.

We put up our hummingbird feeder in early April . . . and we only use one because any more than that and our porch isn't fit for human occupation because of all the pugnacious little birds racing back/forth between feeding and defending their favorite feeder. With the honeysuckle vines & other wild flowers, there's plenty of forage for them, so they do well.

I always enjoy this map of their arrivals and the spread across the States & Canada. Hummingbird Migration Maps . . . and Patdart should be seeing some soon if she hasn't already!
