I'm using what I assume is a cheep pedometer that my company gave us for their "Step into Spring" fitness program. Most of the different locations are all competing against one another to see who can get the highest average number of steps per person participating. I don't see a brand name, but see it is made in Korea. The one from last year was held together with electrical tape and worked great until I lost it. I had a midrange priced Omron and the free cheapie one outlasted it.

If you have a smart phone JT, you can download a pedometer app for free. There are several. I don't remember which one I got on my phone but I quit using it when I started riding my bike.

Today I had 8539 steps on the pedometer. After supper I rode my bike about 36 minutes, somewhere around 10 miles, averaged 17.3 mph first 8 miles and 13 mph for 2 miles cool of cool down.

I thought I would try the knee supports I have to see if they would help. I have one that is an ACE brand that is an elastic band about 8 inches wide made for the knee and used that on my left knee. Another one is more elaborate and uses Velcro bands above and below the knee and I used that on my right knee. By around noon I had managed about 2 miles and my knees were killing me so I took them off and figured I was done for the day. Later I tried to walk a little bit and it was OK. I managed to get 4 miles in after all. I swear, my body seems to defy all logic. It does seem like more support would be better but I guess not.
Well, at least now I know, LOL.

I went on an ADA fund raiser ride today, North Shore Tour De Cure It started in Topsfield MA I road 32 miles in 2:15 I am tired and sore and discouraged. I am to ride 150 miles in the NEC on July12-13 So far Ive put OVER 520 miles on my bicycle this year (last 2 months), and I dont seem to be improving. Ive had 7 rides of 22 to 35 miles in length and 7 rides of 19 miles, plus numerous HOURS on rollers and I am so sore and beet I dont see how I can be ready for the BIG ride. this will be my 6th year to ride in the NEC and Last year I was not able to do the second day I just ran out of steam.

OK enough self pity just venting

Yeah Mollie, I knew it was a typo but I just had to point it out.
Today the good news is that my knees didn't hurt at all ! I was able to walk at a faster pace than I have been walking at and go for at least 1/2 mile at a time, which is a major accomplishment for me. The other good news is I was able to get to the point where I am feeling the pain in my calf muscle which is a good thing as the more I push it the better it gets. It will be interesting to see how I feel tonight and tomorrow but I feel quite good now.
Sunday 5/18 walking 5.22 miles, 12,225 steps
