Talking Great old song: Catch The Wind - lyrics - Donovan

Great old song: Catch The Wind - lyrics - Donovan

An innovative 18 yo Scottish boy sings a song he wrote:

( Although I hear every word, I often miss his meaning so I am posting the words first )

In the chilly hours and minutes
Of uncertainty
I want to be
In the warm hold of your loving mind.

To feel you all around me
And to take your hand
Along the sand,
Ah, but I may as well try and catch the wind.

When sundown pales the sky
I want to hide a while
Behind your smile,
And everywhere I'd look, your eyes I'd find.

For me to love you now
Would be the sweetest thing,
'T would make me sing,
Ah, but I may as well try and catch the wind.

Diddy di dee dee diddy diddy,
Diddy diddy diddy dee dee dee.

When rain has hung the leaves with tears
I want you near to kill my fears,
To help me to leave all my blues behind.

For standin' in your heart
Is where I want to be
And long to be,
Ah, but I may as well try and catch the wind.

Ah, but I may as well try and catch the wind.

I'm posting the words first again because I sometimes misunderstand this last verse:

Freedom is a word I rarely use
Without thinkin', mm hmm
Without thinkin', uh huh
Of the time, of the time
When I've been loved

______________________________________

Yellow is the color of my true love's hair
In the mornin', when we rise
In the mornin', when we rise
That's the time, that's the time
I love the best

Blue's the color of the sky
In the mornin', when we rise
In the mornin', when we rise
That's the time, that's the time
I love the best

Green's the color of the sparklin' corn
In the mornin', when we rise
In the mornin', when we rise
That's the time, that's the time
I love the best

Mellow is the feelin' that I get
When I see her, mm hmm
When I see her, uh huh
That's the time, that's the time
I love the best

Freedom is a word I rarely use
Without thinkin', mm hmm
Without thinkin', uh huh
Of the time, of the time
When I've been loved

Ha Ha that brings back a memory of me aged about 14 getting in terrible trouble with my Dad. I had a boyfriend of the puppy love variety and we were both big fans of Donovan (in fact we thought he was FAB). He was in boarding school and we would write to each other. I couldn't get some of the words to Catch the Wind so he wrote them down for me. I dropped page 2 of the letter and Dad found it where it began "to feel you all around me etc etc" and came to a wrong conclusion...
