Hi all!

I managed to avoid carbs during two situations yesterday that were usually very difficult for me. Thought I'd share and I hope others will too!

Yesterday morning someone brought homemade treats to the office to thank us for hard work. They brought them right into the room where I sit and everyone gathered in there (instead of in the break area) to visit and eat. They offered them to me specifically and I managed to say a polite, even happy "No thanks". Then the remaining treats were left on coworker's desk and I didn't take any all day.

Then we visited a buffet where they have one of my favorite desserts, lemon meringue pie. And they do it well. I asked myself if it was worth the pain afterward, and it just wasn't. That may be the first time ever that I've gone there and not had the pie.

I did just the opposite. Fell prey to an after-Easter discounted Reese's peanut butter egg. Ate it in the car on the way home. Felt nauseated and exhausted. Tested as soon as I got in and I was 86. Yeah, don't clap your hands: I have a history of reactive hypoglycemia; I can imagine how high it must of gone before my pancreas woke up and did a huge insulin dump

Felt crappy for the entire rest of the day, even after my blood sugars normalized.

You're right: That lemon meringue pie wouldn't have been worth it!

Yay!!!! I managed to eat at Buffet and stuck to the Salad side and the veggies. Then for Easter I didn't have a piece of candy or chocolate at all!! Instead I had 4 teaspoons of mash potatoes and a roll!! I only drink water too!!

I went to the Dr today and lost 5 pounds!! Yay!!! That's a total of 26 fat ones that I lost since March 17th.

We all can do this!!

Way to go, silvertiger! You have what it takes!

Lesson learned, Mar2a, and I'll bet you aren't tempted nearly so much next time!

You got this silvertiger!

PS I was once tempted by a 'because you have all worked so hard' work treat. I mean, damn it! I work hard and I want my treat! But I put my big girl panties on and resisted them.

Now there are Easter Eggs placed ALL over the work place for staff to help themselves. *sigh*.
