Many people here believe that converting unsaturated vegetable oil into unnatural saturated trans-fat to make it solid is bad for the body.

I've always heard margarine is just one molecule away from being plastic. Just been too lazy to verify that. This says that ain't so. The author gives a fair comparison, but still harbors a sat. fat phobia.

You don't have to eat butter, just don't eat margarine. It isn't food, it's a manufactured food product made from polyunsaturated fats which contain unhealthy levels of omega6 fatty acids to begin with, and have been hydrogenated and emulsified within an inch of their lives (more to the point, OUR lives!). If you don't like butter, there are plenty of other nutritious fats like coconut oil and ghee you could use.

As for ice cream - make your own! There are recipes on our Recipes board - just use the search function.

Not eating breakfast soon after getting up is not doing you any favors. It is not prudent for diabetics to delay breakfast for hours.

I don't know what almased is - are there carbohydrates in the drink, or is it a protein drink?

You'd do better to have protein and FAT soon after you get up. This will not only keep you from getting hungry, but will also stop the rise in your BG from your liver putting glucose into your bloodstream because it perceives you need energy but aren't eating.

No reason you couldn't put heavy whipping cream in your morning coffee/tea. A lot of members here do this and it serves as breakfast for them.
