I learnt from my textbooks that B12 (cobalamin) is found predominantly in foods from animal origin.

I was wondering if I had missed something, so I searched Wikipedia

"Vitamin B12 is found in most animal derived foods, including fish and shellfish, meat (especially liver), poultry, eggs, milk, and milk products. However, the binding capacity of egg yolks and egg whites is markedly diminished after heat treatment. An NIH Fact Sheet lists a variety of animal food sources of B12".

My DS has always been the quiet, unobtrusive one. I am actually glad she got up the nerve to argue with me. I just wish she had done her usual in-depth research and not the superficial, just show me the answer I want study that she did. Maybe I will send her my copy of Big Fat Surprise when I am done reading it?

OH, you remind me of my SIL who was vegetarian/pescatarian for decades. A few years ago she and my DB got worried about weight gain and health decline. DB did some research and suggested they try Atkins Induction.

She told me, "I was terrified. I placed every stomach pill I could find beside my plate so I could grab them quickly. I made your DB repeat all the reasons he thought LC was the right decision for us. The steak and I stared at each other for a few minutes. Then I apologized to every cell in my body for what I was about to do to them, cut a piece, took my first bite of red meat in 25 years...and heard every individual cell in my entire body scream, What TOOK you so long? Give us more! More! MORE!"

(Disclaimer: I do believe there are people who, for genetic or damage-accumulated-in-life reasons cannot digest meat and/or fats. They have my sincere sympathies: getting adequate protein and healthy levels of fat has to be terribly difficult.)

Im just popping in to say hi and noticed this. I am so sorry. All we can go by is that YMMV- sure, some of us can eat potatoes (Im the SP eater) and even if you can NOW, you may not be able to in days. It isnt about what you can eat- it is about your body's reaction.

"I appreciate the effort you went to and your concern, but this is a non-topic for us going forward".
