Default oh dear

oh dear alright, just had a lecture from the chemist this time,i told her I don't eat carbs fullstop, and she said I have it all wrong, the body needs carbs, you need to eat brown rice, whole grain bread etc,she also said that double cream and butter are very unhealthy for me as well.at this stage I thought oh well, why not,so I gave her a bit of a serve.i told her I eat to my metre,if something raises my bs I simply don't eat it.i then told her about the time I got a diabetic sandwich from the hospital and did the proper test on it.i was a bit of a green horn at this stage.
results= 5.5 at start
8.9 at 1 hour
6.6 at 2 hours
iam not happy with these results and gave up bread from that very day.she said oh no those results are ok???????????sorry about the rant folks, but iam over all this crap, and wont bother anymore.after all iam the one with the disease and iam happy with my personal results,i have lost 10 kilos and hopefully will be metformin free after my next lot of blood tests.my blood sugars are down in the normal range,5 in the mornings, and up to 5.8 ish after a meal.RANT OVER,i will just soldier on.

Welcome to the other club none of us wanted to join.

Many of us have been scolded about doing the right thing, and scolded further when we get good results.

YOU, on the other hand ... are doing fantastic work!

Rant away! We've got your back.

It's sad that a chemist (or was it a biochemist) refuses to see the logic in the subject that is theirs in the first place. They should be telling us how the metabolic processes take place and what to do / or not to do.

I believe in Great Britain, "chemist" is thge term for "pharmacist".

You are right, and OP is in Australia, so probably chemist meant pharmacist.

In that case, that's the front end of the pill-pushing club. Just ignore the advice.

The modern world allows little room to consider us as individual patients for a thousand reasons.

The great chink in that armor, remarkably enough, being the internet where we can freely share information regardless of whatever "scientific" prejudices are in vogue.

Therein lies yet another tremendous value of this site.

Keep writing friends!

I feel for you! These are the people that should be helping us! Shame on them!!

Can't begin to tell you how well I have mastered the "smile & nod" reply when I run into someone like that. Then continue doing what I am doing!!
