Default Diabetic Supplies and Insurance Companies

Okay a rant . . .

Been dealing with this for several months now. I get one prescriptions for test strips for twice a day, and one for test strips to test up to 5 times a day. I get insulin 5 pens of each type of insulin a month for a 20 dollar co-pay. That's fine except I don't use it all in one month.

Same thing with pen needles, two scripts, one once a day, and the other 4 times a day. The insurance company refused to let me have these supplies unless I order insulin. I've been ordering insulin every month and still have problems getting the test strips because I don't use the entire thing of insulin. I think a 3 months supply on hand is a little too much in the fridge.

Those test strips are sitting waiting for me to pick up for 2 weeks now,
Last week when I picked up the insulin , they were still too soon. Yesterday, they wanted to charge me 15 dollars copay, when they are supposed to be free. All because I didn't order insulin with them.

Now the lady at the prescription sevice (3rd party insurance) understands, she is a type 1 diabetic, but did I get the strips at free. No way, I just transferred my crap to a mail order place, yet another person to deal with but supposively i'll just get a 3 month supply of everything.

thank god for cheap strips on Amazon! It's a principal thing with me about those dang test strips and pen needles.

Ok done, thanks for listening

How many strips do you use daily or monthly?

How much insulin?

What about just buying strips at Walmart (cringe!) for $8 for 50 strips as needed?

I use more than what is prescribed by the doctor, but I want what I can get from the insurance, since I've been paying that premium for over 30 years and not already filed a claim against it.

I buy my extra strips from amazon, 250 for $38.00.

That being said, it's the principle of the thing.

My relion meter is 40 points higher than my TrueResult Meter, and it consistenly that high. It's not accurate enough (for me) if you take insulin.

Got it, thanks.

My Relion meter is at least 20-30 points higher than my True 2 go meter. Relion more closely matches my A1c though:-(
