Default Atkins bars

Yes so i fell into the trap! I thought they were a great thing but now im not to sure. I also should have stayed away from the pre-packaged food. I actually searched on here yesterday after I ate and saw others talk about it but one in particular was someone who had her sugars raise really high in the morning because of the bar. I cant find the thread so im posting a new one.

My sugars have been good all day, now being just slightly elevated in the am so im getting there. I had the bar last night and i checked one, two and three hours and my sugar went up to 125. I felt fine I went to bed and 8 hours after that i get up my morning sugar is 160! My question is, did this raise my morning blood sugar so significantly, even if three hours after eating it it didnt really do much? No worries, not going to touch them EVER again! lol

These bars have more protein in it. So Yes expect a rise 3 to 4 hours after eating it.

I had to throw away a fairly good sized stash of them. They are very tasty but not so good (at least for me) when trying to eat low carb and watch the BG numbers.

Adkins bars have sugar alcohol. Sugar alcohols do have carb calories, and the body will use these as fuel, or store as fat, whether or not insulin is involved. You need to look at the total CALORIES for one serving of the product. I admit, the Adkins bars broke my heart because they do taste good, but I found it rose my bg.

Add me to the 'Atkins bars do strange, unacceptable things to my BG' club. I tried them a year ago. Fortunately, I only bought three. Tested twice, so throwing one away unopened was not too tragic.

Add me to the list too!! When first dx'd, I could eat them once or twice a week with no problem. But then all of a sudden, WHAM, not good for me at all. I suspect something in the recipe changed. I tried them again about a year later just hoping, but alas, way to spikey!!

All Atkins products are totally and forever off my menu.

I ate them and didn't see any spikes, but they left me hungry for more, and, eventually, I gave up on them (I don't go down that aisle in the store anymore). It gave me cravings. Salads never give me cravings.

They gave me a BG spike. Even when I divided them up into fourths and only ate one small piece. I really liked having them ... but they had to go.
