Smile First pair of Diabetic sneakers

Hi everyone. Last week I went for a fitting for my first pair of diabetic sneakers. They come in next week for a final fit and possible for me to take home. I'm so excited about getting them. Right now I have a hard time wearing shoes around the house so I normally go barefoot. My wife bought me a pair of crocs that I wear from time to time when my feet aren't ultra sensitive. The bottoms feel like I'm walking on peddles and it hurts to walk in them so I just take them off. I did a lot of damage to my feet when I didn't take care of myself for almost 10 years. So here's to me getting my first pair of diabetic shoes. YAY!

Yay, it's so important to have something on your feet, glad you are getting something that you can be comfortable in that doesn't add any pain to already aching feet

Apparently I am missing something here, and am almost afraid to ask... I go barefoot around my home all the time, and wear ordinary shoes (albeit with custom orthotics in them as I have flat feet) when I go out. I also use a foot cream every morning to combat dry skin.

If you don't take care of your BG you have issues with any type of injury not healing. Top that off with neuropathy, pain, numbness, you may not realize you have an injury that could eventually develop into gangrene if not detected and treated. That's why it's important for self foot exams. They make special socks and shoes for diabetics that offers more comfort. Me, I have no discomfort with regular foot wear and plan on keeping it that way by controlling my BG at safe levels. Nothing I could eat is worth the risk of damage to any of my body parts.

I go barefoot around home also, and when I go out, I wear VFFs. They're the only shoes my feet approve!

VFF's are my regular foot wear in above freezing. Haven't looked to see if they make a cold weather shoe.

They don't seem to. My BH really likes them but lately she's been more than a bit disappointed to see that the build quality seems to have gone downhill.

Drats on the no winter model.

I noticed my last pair were "different" from my first pair, but they were a different model too. Supposed to be a heavier sole, but top of big toe already has a hole in it.
