To your original question, I'd keep trying and trying to get this person to bring down the numbers. But then, I live in a different part of the planet, where the persistence will be thought of as "caring" and will not be considered "scaring".

This was me, back in 2005. But my BGL wasn't anywhere near that, it was about 6.9 IIRC. However, I would have been over the moon if someone had pointed me at this site. I didn't discover it for ages, and I only found it because I was getting desperate, because the advice I was given by clueless educators was leaving me worse off than ever.

I didn't want to do shots either, but changed my mind after some time of doing the reading here (I've only been on insulin for a couple of years or less). I think if I had known back then what I know now, and made the effort to change my diet back then... I would not have piled on something like 20Kg, and I might not even have needed more than the metformin, for life. I don't know. But it sure as hell would have given me a better chance to be healthier than I am now.

I had almost the exact same experience. I was on the ADA diet and my blood sugar was going higher every day. It was totally frustrating... Thank God I found this forum. Give him the forum address. www.diabetesforum it may get his attention...
