Still at 81! Had a 76, but otherwise, 4 81s out of the last 5 readings. Hope this meter isn't broken!

120 this morning. Had Dr. appt today. My Medicare "Wellness Exam" is next Tuesday. I asked about having insulin and GAD antibodies checked. He said diabetes is "progressive" but they have other drugs to try (not) before insulin if I can't control my blood sugars "with diet and exercise." He said my last A1c (5.8) was good so he's not doing it next week. I need to find a doctor who is willing to work with me. He also told me the Losartan (100 mg is a "normal" dose?) I have been taking for blood pressure is supposed to "protect" my kidneys so I'm supposed to take it even if the beta blocker lowers my pressure as well as my rapid heart rate. Metoprolol made me dizzy so we are "trying" a different one. I forgot the name; it'll come in a week or so from the mail order pharmacy. I don't see the point in taking more than one drug for the same thing if one of them works. Anyway isn't Metformin meant to be "kidney Protective?"

Blood Pressure Medication protects your kidneys for ppl who has high blood pressure. It's high blood pressure that damages your kidneys.
There literally, 100's of medications that control blood pressure. Lisinopril is a favorite of my cardiologist, endo, and PCP. So your not stuck with it.

Metformin is supposed to lower insulin resistance and it works within the liver.

I get that from my doc too, that certain things are to protect my kidneys. What I DON'T get from my doc is all the bullcrap about diabetes being progressive. He has learned that it is NOT progressive when the correct management method is followed - that being LCHF. The worthless ones who insist on their book-learnin' make me crazy.

My husband takes metoprolol and I take atenolol . . . both drugs lower blood pressure and slow the heart rate.

96 / 5.3 this morning

MaJoie, I vote you go doctor hunting. "We'll try more drugs before we test to find out more about what is going on" does not strike me as supportive. ..... Actually, that attitude scares me.

55 this morning, and feeling good. It rained all day yesterday, leaving nice big puddles to soak in. No rain right now, but we're expecting more tomorrow.
I miss Tamagno.
Happy Friday, all.

An 81 (4.5) this morning.

I was originally put on metoprolol, then they doubled it, then they added lisinopril. They both help lower blood pressure but by different ways. It may take 2 or more different meds to regulate BP.

I had no issues that stood out with the metoprolol but adding lisinopril with it, I start feeling woozy if I stand up and start walking quickly. Lights and light colored objects are much brighter and more glaring. But it keeps my BP in the 100-110 / 55-65 range so I'll tolerate the other effects unless they become more than slightly annoying.
