116. Interestingly at 2 a.m., FBG was 92. It crawled up to 116 by 8 a.m., which is my usual time to get up. I guess my body is quite determined that I have plenty of energy to go out and hunt and gather.

Today is a lovely day, although warm and a little humid. 11 year old mamacat (mama of other 4) had a clean bill of health today despite the concern that she might have diabetes or thyroid disease. So, increase canned food, decrease kibble. If only I could get her to eat home cooked chicken.

I've been through this ordeal with my cats. Below is a listing of low-carb canned cat foods to try, along with how to figure it out the carbs yourself from the pet nutrition label. I've had good luck with fancy feast classic (4% carbs), which doesn't have grains, vegetables or other carbs added. They like it better than the expensive "hippy" cat food.

95 (5.26) this morning. I had to go in to town early this morning to have the stitches removed from the Mohs surgery I had two weeks ago and forgot to post earlier. Hot and hotter is the weather report, dry here with humidity around 12% but I would trade for high humidity if we had rain to go with it.

Are your cats diabetic or just ... well-padded? Mine lost over 2lbs and went from pre-diabetic to a svelte tiger on CAtkins.

He's steroid induced pre diabetic. He has an auto immune disorder that can only treated (by his choice) by shots. He won't touch soft food except to drink the liquid off it. He's a rescue and I have no idea why he is so picky. You'd think he would gobble up the soft food.

I feed him grain free dry food, I know, not the best, but better than what the vet gave him. No way in the world is he going to let me test his bg, so I am kind of winging it here. He will be 10 next month and at this point I just want him to be happy. How do you tell your cat to eat lc/hf????

Mine was like that originally. I ended up diluting her wet food with the same amount of water, so dump the can, fill it up with water, then make a slurry. At first I pureed it in a blender as she would only lap her food. Eventually she had four teeth pulled, and now she's willing to eat her food with "only" 1/2 a can of extra water, and I'm allowed to just mash it up with a fork.

Basically I am a total pushover and will do absolutely anything to make my furballs happy.

p.s. My fasting BG was 154 this morning. So I'm totally not derailing the thread nattering on about cats!

99, more delicious potato salad last night. I tested several times PP after eating it and BG was always under 110. I think I'm OK eating it a few times a month/year. I went without it for almost 2 1/2 years fearing the worst.

We will be getting a kitten this weekend. We've taken a rest from animals the last couple of years after having to put 3 down shortly before that.

104 (5.76) this morning. I was a good boy for dinner last night so

We reached a high of 99.5° here yesterday but when I went to town to get my stitches out they were 111° so it was nice to climb the hill for home. Sure glad I have air conditioning in my car.
