Default I Will Be Absent For 10 Days

My computer needs repair and I am having to send it Fed Ex it to California. I may not have computer access for 10 days starting Monday afternoon (12/1). I just want you to know I have not deserted you, I shall return!!! If I can find my CD for installing my Verizon service I will fire up my old desktop but I do not know where that CD is located. If I am without my computer for 10 days I may be climbing the walls!!!

Richard

lol.. I know that feeling of not having internet.. you get bored sometimes looking on the net but when your without it you wonder : How did I get bored?... LOL We will miss you dear.... and good luck on finding your verizon disk... Hmm wonder if you could download it off the verizon site and burn it to a disc and install it on your other computer? Don't know if that would work or not

Default Burn???

Oh dear me!!! Burn it to a disc? Would that set my house on fire? j/k Do you get the impression I am computer illiterate??? You might be able to do that but not old man Richard. I will be patient and do my best without my computer, if necessary. I may pester my wife a lot though. I will miss you Meg.

Richard

The Fed Ex pick-up has now been postponed until Monday, Dec 1. I will post here until the pick-up time that day.

lol well I am not the most computer literate either dear-- but I found out how to burn programs off my computer-- with a bit of help lol

Fingers crossed that it will be a fast fix-- too bad you couldn't get the "geek squad" out there to visit ya!

Geez, you're full of Good ideas Meg. We have the Geek Squad here, so they should be in Richard's area also. I'm not sure how much they would charge though. I married a Geek so he does all my stuff(or teaches me how to) for free.

I don't concider myself that much of a geek but I have been to courses that open my thoughts towards computing and knowing Unix commands alows me to network between routers like ping www.diabetesforum.com and you will find four replies with time between your box to the servers box. See below.

C:\>ping www.diabetesforum.com

Pinging www.diabetesforum.com [98.129.138.160] with 32 bytes of data:

Reply from 98.129.138.160: bytes=32 time=214ms TTL=52
Reply from 98.129.138.160: bytes=32 time=212ms TTL=52
Reply from 98.129.138.160: bytes=32 time=212ms TTL=52
Reply from 98.129.138.160: bytes=32 time=210ms TTL=52

Ping statistics for 98.129.138.160:
Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
Minimum = 210ms, Maximum = 214ms, Average = 212ms

Just some simple networking testing.
