And Americans will keep getting fatter & fatter, more diabetes, more heart problems, etc. All because no one wants to admit that what they have been recommending has been wrong.

Oh hell yeah - we all did! We did everything in our power from basics - farm fresh eggs, butchered our own beef & pork, raw milk from which I skimmed the cream and churned our own butter - thought I was really getting the job done. And all of those things were good, except that I was also pumping my kids full of homemade whole wheat bread - my own recipe which contained milk, eggs, extra amounts of wheat germ & wheat bran as well as whole flax seed, poppy seeds, sesame seeds, and sunflower seeds. I did everything but mill my own grains, and I had few friends who were even doing THAT! And beyond the bread, we consumed mammoth amounts of mac/cheese - it was the first thing the kids learned to cook by themselves - apart from nachos by the ton. I was drinking the nutritional koolaid by the gallon.
