Forgive me, but aren't your values high, even for being on a Keto diet. I was always under the impression that ones cholesterol and LDL should be much lower than this, even when on a keto diet. Your ratio is good, but but is it really? The A1C is also good.

Please explain, as I am confused. I was on the Keto diet and my levels were much lower. C=222 LDL= 130

I don't know what to say about the high cholesterol DanteNXS, I'm just as confused. I'm keeping my blood glucose down but not the other, must be doing something wrong.

@Carbaholic

I have found couple articles that discuss the phenomenon of a higher total Cholesterol and higher LDL within a subset of folks on LCHF. One in the Diet Doctor website, which is just about the same as the one I've linked below.

https://authoritynutrition.com/low-c...d-cholesterol/
This article is an easy read, with links to other resources. It also gives a few suggestions that might be workable for you.

I've pulled out a couple quotes - first one refers to the commonly held standard for CVD risk regarding cholesterol levels.

Quote:
Of course, most of these “risk factors” were established in the context of a high-carb, high-calorie Western diet and we don’t know if they have the same effects on a healthy low-carb diet that reduces inflammation and oxidative stress.

.......

On a low-carb diet, HDL tends to go up and triglycerides down, while Total and LDL cholesterol tend to stay the same. LDL particle size tends to increase and LDL particle number tends to go down. All good things (8, 9).
But again… this is what happens on average.
Within those averages, it appears that a subset of people on a low-carb ketogenic diet DO get a rise in Total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol and LDL particle number.

Are you eating grass fed and organic meats? Are you using cold pressed coconut/olive oils? Are you eating organic veggies? All this could also be playing a role in things.

Yes to the cold pressed organic coconut oil/ and EVOO. No the the grass fed and organic meats, perhaps this is the problem DanteNXS.

Thanks VeeJay for the link, checking it out now.

Over the last year I have reduced my total carb intake to the current 60g-75g a day. A majority of my diet has been protein focused (50%) with aprox 20% fat, and 30% carbs. I'm 5'8 and 155 pds. T1D 40yrs and I'm 59. Due to the repair work I had in 2001 to my heart and the rebuilt arterial lanes which are now horse trails that now lead to it, I don't feel comfortable with a LCHF program. I like the LC,LF,HP model though my carbs aren't as low as the LCHF

My last lipid readings which I get every 3 months were:
Chol: 142
HDL: 70
LDL: 39
Trig: 65
Ratio: 2.0
A1C: 5.6
