Default New Guy

Hello All,

My first post. I have, my doctor says is a combination of both type one and type two diabetes. I've had it for about 15 years, but some not so swift doctors only started treating me for it for about, maybe 8 years. I'm currently taking a 50/50 insulin mix twice daily. I do have nerve damage in my feet. No feeling. Sugar levels are inconsistent. I'm tired all the time, even at work, an office job on a computer all day long. My stress level is going through the roof for other personal reasons. I'm also a chronic pain sufferer and require high doses of the strongest pain Meds. I also suffer with anxiety. I'm 47 years old. About 2 weeks ago I had a seizure at work. My sugar dropped to 1.9. It's been lower if I don't eat enough, but this was a first. Pretty scary. The Ambulance attendants stayed until my readings were back up. Although the ambulance wanted to take me to the E.R., but I didn't want to take the chance of loosing my license, I felt it coming on and would have time to pull over without hurting anyone. I would never take that chance

Well that's me in a nutshell. I look forward to reading all of the post's. Please take care everyone.

Randy

Welcome Randy! I'm in the insulin-ignorant club also, but the great thing about the forum is that it's packed with insulin geniuses (at least you guys all sound brilliant to me.)

What a scary incident you had at work! A T1 forum member was just posting today about how she tests every time before she gets behind the wheel. Would that also help avoid those situations/risks? Glad you're okay! Also glad you're here ...

Welcome, Randy, have a cup of chocolate hot chocolate (low carb of course) and take a seat by the fireplace. Sounds like you have more than enough stress and I hope you'll get some tea, sympathy and advice to help you here. Ask anything you need...the only dumb question is the one not asked.

Good luck,

Good luck,
Thank you also Pandart, you suggested a great idea for the evening. It's a cold night here in Toronto.

All the best,

Randy
