Hi Taso - good to see you again.

School's started!!! It seems so early compared to years ago when we didn't start until September. But, then, we didn't have air conditioned classrooms.

I headed down to this local coffee place a little bit ago because I was craving their iced coffee with cream and sugar free vanilla. I pulled into the line behind one other vehicle and someone came out to take my order so it would be ready when it was my turn.

Just as I got up there, I realized I hadn't brought my wallet. I explained what had happened and asked if they would put it in the icebox for me - that I would be right back with my money. Ya know what she said? No problem, it's on us today and handed me my drink. What company does that? They have earned a customer for life. BEST SERVICE EVER!

Am totally bummed out. Hubby brought a cold home and generously shared it with me. I spent most of the day yesterday in bed or just sitting (watching TV is SOOO boring). Today promises to be about the same.

Really, I had other things planned for this weekend.

I finally have all 4 grand kids in school! Oldest is a senior in HS, next (and only boy) is a freshman in HS, next one is in Pre-K, and the youngest starts preschool next week.

I have been hearing a lot about all the health benefits of drinking bone broth. Since I am far too lazy to take the time to make it myself, I bought Pacific Organic Bone Broth. (Turkey with Rosemary, Sage & Thyme) Let me tell you, it is probably the MOST DISGUSTING thing I have ever tried. YUCK!

I don't think much of the commercial bone broths. I'm not convinced there's enough "bone" in that kind of broth to be of any benefit whatsoever.

But.... the broth I make myself from the carcass of a store-bought roasted chicken is delicious. I leave some meat on the bones, add onion, celery, garlic, and various herbs to it. Simmer it on the stove all day for a couple days (this could be done in a crockpot as well). Not really very much work.

The whole "bone broth" thing puzzles me a little. At home whenever I've made soup, there have been bones in the broth. The broth is gelatinous when it's cold but oh so good when it's hot. Is "bone broth" one of those redundant things, like "hot water heater".

That said, perhaps there's some flavor in Pacific's broth that Cricket doesn't like. Maybe Imagine's brand is better? Since I don't find it all difficult to make my own, it's an academic point to me. Just bemused by the craze over a preparation method that's really rather old and time-tested.

A thought for today!

While watching one of the ‘Never Ending’ advertisements on drugs for people with Type II diabetes, I had the thought that anytime an advertisement spends a large portion of time warning listeners of all the possible side effects of that drug, then you have to question if that drug is really something I should ever consider?
