My workout routine is simple. I'm not a runner or jogger. I walk about a 1.5 miles Mon, Wed, and Sat or Tue, Thu, and Sat. I hate treadmills. They are boring, but I get a lot of reading done...LOL! I love to read stories about the supernatural. I don't like to read them at home, so I read them at the gym. I do resistance training in between. At work, I take breaks and go walking. I work on the 3rd floor, so I go up and down the stairs several times a day. My legs have actually started to build up by doing stairs. We moved to this building last Oct. I didn't realize how much benefit I was getting by the stairs until a friend and I were walking up a flight of stairs to her 4th floor apartment. We were talking and walking, and she was exhausted by the time we got to her apartment. She was surprised that my endurance was better. She moved to those apartments a little before I moved to my building. She recently moved to another apartment on the 1st floor!

If I make it today, I'll be 5 days in a row of meeting or exceeding my daily step goal of 12,000 steps a day. That's after 5 days in a row of not getting there. Unlike horseshoes and hand grenades, where close counts, I wasn't even close those days.

I didn't make my step goal yesterday. Didn't get my steps in today either, only about half way, but I did brush and bathe a cat. That should be worth something.

I heard Uncle Ted say that.

The scratching came trying to use hair dryer. OK, just sit there looking like a almost drowned cat until you dry out 'au natural'. Thoughts of getting the back end declawed.

Started graveyard last night. Barely got my steps by midnight.

Well, I'm almost embarrassed to answer this one. I did my second-this-week "10 Minute Chair Exercises for Seniors." Pretty much 'nothing' compared to what I used to do: Ride (horses), hike (mountains), manhandle (reposition) patients larger than myself, tend a 125 x 75-ft garden...you get the picture. But I'm so deconditioned that this is the only safe way I can get moving. Unable to walk any distance at all due to major arthritis and fibro. Amazed to discover how long it takes me to 'recover' from this extremely modest bit of formal exercise!! Oh, well...it's a necessary step.
