With that cloud cover, I'd say the stars at night, ain't big and bright, deep in the heart of Texas ... tonight anyways.

Finally got my steps in tonight. Was hard to sit around after supper, but I wanted to not influence the results. Forgot to mention earlier I also put in an hour on the bike on the trainer this morning.

can you measure distance or some measure of effort on trainer? or just time against gear and cadence maybe?

My bike computer shows miles ridden and actual and average speed. It uses GPS or a sensor that measures wheel rpm and then calculates mph by known circumference of the tire. I forgot which is primary if GPS is available but obviously it uses the sensor when on the trainer. Bike has another sensor that measures cadence.

I probably should use the trainer as a trainer but I haven't. The majority of use was when I was recovering from quad bypass surgery and could not go out and ride. I prefer to ride outside, but should probably come up with some workouts to build up strength and endurance to do on the trainer.

well, tonight i got to thinking my improvements lately could be from building endurance with the 10 milers. so, i got on for a 5 miler to see how i could do on only partially(for me) recovered legs. i blew my old best 5 mile time away by 54 secs. heart rate down by 10 beats producing 14 more watts over distance. this was after a month of distance training. bs went from 108 to 73 after ride. i'm doing this so when spring gets here me and my road bike can go places out of this hollow. well, that and my arthritic knees and bs levels. my knees don't bother me of late. win, win, win. its all good!

Got my steps goal in for yesterday, but most of it late in the day. I had to put in 12,500 steps after supper. Spent too much time yesterday morning looking at the internet and then decided I better get out and start getting the martin boxes ready. They will be here soon.

I could have sworn I posted my exercise results last night. Clearly, I am losing it.

My son, daughter, grandson and I went hiking on trails down by the creek, yesterday evening.

We often get off the beaten path and it can get a bit rocky at times, but it is moments like this one, that make it all worth it.

Takes me a bit longer to get my steps done on the trails, but my legs definitely get a workout.

I got a bit of a late start today, so the trails weren't really an option. (It's tough to see snakes and boogie men in the dark.) As usual, I avoid the gym until I have no other option, so it was back to my local sidewalks tonight. We had a wonderful breeze tonight that made it nice.

met with folks monitoring me at the diabetic clinic today. the nurse had to educate me about cardiac stuff. i told her i eat fat, meat, protein and salt and all that stuff is bull. then i had her compare my blood panels this year against last year. i told her that was my proof. being open minded we then had a delightful exchange. she was impressed with my control. i plugged this web sight and she listened. did 37,400 lb tonight and had an easy 10 miles on the bike.
