It seems like I may be going the same way. I was on Metformin and was changed to Jardiamet last year. I am on BP and Cholestral meds too and want off all of them. About to try Berberine which I have researched. Will stay on the Keto Diet (LCHF) plus I take 20ml Apple Cider Vinegar daily which I take with fizzy mineral water with a spoon of Stevia. Use it to down the meds haha. If I forget I add it to whatever I am eating through the day.

Could you confirm if you also continued with the Metformin when you added the other 3 items. I am also on the Keto diet, plus Metformin, BP and Cholestral tabs. I am considering dropping the BP and Chol tabs (eventually Jardiamet/Metformin). The only thing I hadn't considered was the Milk Thistle. What quantity do you take

I'm on a lot of metformin 2000mg (2x500mg twice a day) should I think of lowering or even stopping before testing I'm currently LCHF and thinking of progressing to Keto
Firstly DITTO. I am already on the Keto Diet and it will definitely make a difference to your Blood Sugars. I love it. I take my ACV with fizzy mineral water and some Stevia or honey. Use it to swill down the meds.

Hi Vitki
I reduced my metformin to 2 day day with 2 berberine I refused any cholesterol pills my A1c went down from 7.6% to 5.6% after the first 3 months on Berberine, still LCHF only, last 3 months went from 5.6% to 5.5% so stabalising nicely, taken myself off metformin completely for next 3 months to see what will happen! Rotating berberine 3 weeks on 1 week off.

Sounds like a good plan. I think I am about to follow similar plan. Why do you take 3 weeks on and 1 off please.

The reading that I've done all recommends that you cycle it's use to maintain effectiveness and give the body a rest, with a properly controlled diet I have not found my blood sugars to rise noticeably while I'm "off" it. but you should keep an eye on your B'Sugar to be safe!
Good luck if you go ahead and try it.
Some people loose weight almost straight away, but I did not!!! Only started to loose weight after month 4 and I've only lost a stone so far... currently 13 stone would like to loose another 3 stone!

I am wondering what is a suggested brand of Berberine. I am located in Australia and just not sure which is a good brand to start with. Our major chemists do not seem to stock it, so I will probably be buying on line.

I cannot really advise on which is best... but the one I use is:
Amazing Nutrition Amazing Formulas Berberine Plus 500mg 120 Capsules
from Amazon uk
I like it and it gives me no problems, not cheap, but then what is! :-( Just reordered another 3 pots
hope this helps

Quick question - are supplements more cost effective than meds? Seems like you're just trading meds for supplements. Am I missing something?

Not sure on the cost effectiveness as I am on a Pension so my medication is not expensive. The supplements will cost me more. HOWEVER, natural supplements such as the Berberine (from a plant) is better for you then pharmacy type medicatons (In my opinion). I have not just changed from meds to supplements, but have changed my whole diet to low carb - high fat (Keto diet)
