Default Low carb??

I was just wondering what low carb ( number please) means to everyone? For over 45 days, before I found this group, I was eating about 5 carbs a day, sometimes as low as 3. Now I'm up to about 10, and sometimes I'm hitting 12. So when I google low carb breakfast without eggs, yes. I need an egg break, I get oatmeals, granolas, and foods with the low carb amount of 18, 14, 22. Am I being extreme on my low carb counting? If I could have went 0 and ate foods I would have. I'm not much for difficult recipes, like like breaking an egg( not right now, I have had enough eggs) in a skillet, eating a cut up pepper or celery, some type of meat like hamburgers, hams, steaks, sausages. Very simple easy to grab and go foods. Convenient Foods, kinda like Mc Donald's, with out the Mc or the Donald's.

DietDoctor.com breaks down the LCHF lifestyle into categories
  • Strict (0-20 carbs daily )
  • Moderate (20-50 carbs daily)
  • Liberal (50-100 carbs daily)

The term "low-carb" has many definitions. Many people eat upwards of 200g carbs a day. So a reduction to 150 or 100g would be low for them.

Low-carb for weight loss and to attain ketosis is usually 50g or less. Atkins suggests 20-30g.

For us diabetics, its our meters that tell us what our carb ceiling is. And my meter says I can handle only about 10g carbs per meal. I try to stay below that. So my daily carb total is 30g or less.

I'm able to accomplish this without dairy or eggs (food sensitivities). I don't even try to go no-carb unless I'm recovering from a high BG the day before and decide to have a fat-day. I like variety in my meals so do allow those foods such as greens, seeds and nuts and sausages.

P.S. There is no one quite as lazy as me when it comes to cooking. When I want something RIGHT NOW, I fully admit to going to McDonalds now and then. They are used to LCHF orders and never blink an eye when I ask for a Bacon McDouble with no bun or ketchup, or grilled chicken (still no bun) and a side salad.

@Blue Girl do you happen to have a Jimmy John's in your area?

They will lettuce wrap (unwich) any of their sandwiches. My personal favorite is the Club Lulu. (Sliced turkey breast, bacon, lettuce, tomato & mayo) It is a wonderful treat on a lazy day when the last thing I feel like doing is cooking.

The best part? It is only 3 net carbs!

Edit: I accidentally posted this as a reply to the wrong thread, so it has been moved to this thread.

Are you talking carb servings when you say3,5,10? A carb serving is usually about 15 grams of carbohydrates. I try to eat 30 or less grams per day, so I would be eating 2 or less servings a day. Your 10 carbs would be 150 grams, if you are referring to servings.

I agree with mbuster. Not sure if you are talking servings or grams

I eat about 20g a day of carbs which would be about 1 1/2 servings if you are talking about that.

I dont think its possible to get much lower. Vegetables have carbs. I still try to get the most nutritious diet staying on keto.

if you are more extreme than I am , I would love to see your daily diet because I would follow that. I think I am one of the most extreme people on the forum going keto to the extreme all the time.

let us know your diet on a daily basis. also let us know if you are talking about grams of carbs or servings of carbs

No that's my daily amount of carbs, grams. In trying to get to 18, but I just can't. One I'm not hungry enough, and when I see a meal, serving or ingredient with more than 2 carbs, I leave it. I have a no carb list, and eat mostly from that. I added English walnuts but feel guilty. I checked my food list for today and I'm up to 8 so I will skip any carbs, other than a fat bomb, to keep me from being hungry.

If someone can tell me how to post pictures from my iPad. I have 59 days of ingredients. They are not really put together meals, but I use the ingredients. If I add meals to my app, I sometimes don't have an ingredient, or don't feel like eating an ingredient in my meal, so I just go basic, and add ingredient, I have more control that way.

I have taken into consideration that some nutritional values are wrong. I started out at 15-18 grams a day, and quickly made less than 10 my goal. And just shaved of 1 or 1/2 until I was below 5. I'm nearing a controlled BG all day, my high today was 118 and my low so far is 96.
