Default Something wrong

Well I'm doing something wrong. After a few days of great numbers, with much success, I did something wrong. To much to soon I think. I started drinking coffee, and as that showed no change I added 1/2 & 1/2, no change. I did have a very small amount of spaghetti on Sunday, I knew it would put my numbers up a little, but they have not settled down since. I also added cinnamon on Saturday night, thinking it would keep my number low, it was bouncing them around all over when I was in the 150's+. So back to no coffee, and I cut out the cinnamon and will stay away from the fried squash and tomatoes. I guess this is how I find out. Also I'm working 10 hour days again, with more than normal stress levels.

Yes I keep track of every single thing. I think I added to much to fast. I need to go more slowly, I think.

personally I dont think thats it... I went from eating a TON of carbs to keto immediately and I went down.

could be stress. Or something else we are not seeing. if you are in ketosis I dont see how your numbers are bouncing around and staying high.

I say stay the course. I would not go back to eating more carbs in an effort to get the numbers back.

you opened the matrix and you see what LCHF can do? what does slow down mean to you? eat more carbs?

Let us know your thoughts on 'slow down'

Go back to extra low carbs, less then 5 grams per day.

ok.. I misunderstood.

are you saying that you were doing LCHF and then (besides the spaghetti) went to a more moderate carb intake?

if so... your meter is telling you something and now I understand. There are people that can eat 50 - 100g of carbs and be ok... some can eat 40... some cant.

I am allergic to carbs. (my words). I can not eat carbs as much as a person with a peanut allergy can have a peanut. (I know its not exactly but you get the point).

your body might not handle the amount of carbs you are taking and the problem is that your pancreas is damaged if you have diabetes and if you eat perfectly for XXX months, its not going to cure or fix it. The minute you go back to carbs your numbers will rise.

I am a ketotarian. Thats my lifestyle. you didnt go too fast or need to slow down... it 'MIGHT' be that you will never be able to keep your numbers in a normal range if you eat more than XX carbs

you are perfectly ok with this and all of this is an IMPORTANT learning experience. You are learning what your food does to your blood glucose and you will find that sweet spot. as an example, I eat 36g of carbs and my numbers are great.. I eat 40g or more and it starts to rise.. then you know your sweet spot.

keep experimenting until you find that sweet spot. also DIFFERENT carbs act differently. Pasta will spike it different than a sweet potato... you need to experiment with that too.

you are doing GREAT and you can do this and you WILL succeed!!

I'd only add that this is a marathon, not a sprint. You'll be doing this for life. A few ups and downs at first is expected while you're learning.

Just stay the course. Learn and make adjustments. I've been at this for several years and I'm still learning things about my diabetes and foods.

I believe that I'm still adjusting, my blood sugar is still going down, and hasn't "settled" yet. So I don't think new things are going to work right now. But that's ok. I stopped the coffee, and cinnamon. Kept the fried tomatoes and squash and my fasting this morning is back down to 111. Yesterday it was up to 129.
The spaghetti on Sunday was the only thing I ate wrong, and it was less than 1/4 of a cup. Could it have still been effecting me yesterday ( Tuesday)? Monday mornings fasting was 107? I had coffee and cinnamon. On Tuesday, I looked at me notes and I took the cinnamon pill on Sunday night, before bed, thinkin it would keep me low, as it is suppose to help keep things more steady. I figured steady at low was better than steady at high. Hahaha didn't work I don't think.

The morning rise in BG comes from the liver. It gets its stores from excess glucose in the blood. When one sticks to very low carb, it doesn't have as much "raw material" to work with and so it's glucose response can't be as great. Feed it some glucose.... well, now it's restocked and, yes, it could affect one's FBG for a few days after the indulgence.

And food is only one component of FBG. Stress, illness, etc. are all contributing factors. We are having to do manually what a non-diabetic body does automatically. It's not going to be perfect all the time.

OMG...you can say that again! I've been doing great. My numbers have been great except for yesterday. I decided to eat some cantaloupe as dessert and my BG after the 1st hour was 178! It started out as 112. It jumped 66 points! I'm finding out that fruit spikes my BG skyhigh even though I'm sticking to fruits in the low carb side of the fruit house.
