Default Eclipse watching

I live just on the edge of the total eclipse path, so there's a lot of hype and excitement about it around here. I have my sun-viewing glasses and plan to just step out in my yard and watch this phenomenon.

I understand there are people coming to the towns and countryside along the path from all over the world.

Guess I'll get out the welding hood and watch the partial.

The closer we get to the day, the more clouds are in the forecast. Now there's rain forecast for the afternoon - hopefully AFTER the eclipse time here.

We're at about the halfway mark into the eclipse. Still bright outside but perhaps not as bright as full sun.

Was able to see up to a tiny sliver, then clouds came over the sun. Got fairly dark but not totally dark - we are on the edge so didn't expect the full effect.

What was also really interesting was the crescent shape to the dappled sunlight through the tree leaves. Multiple crescents, some overlapping.

A big group of us went outside. I took pics, but only 1 good one. It's kind of hard to take a pic of the sun without looking at the sun...LOL!

100% cloud coverage here by the time peak occlusion occurred. Got a better view on the TV.

I just got back from vacation and was behind on some work I needed to do at home. It was cloudy so I just decided to work through it. It started getting dark in my office and actually got to the point I had to turn on all the lights to see....crazy it was! Glad it is all over....

Default Crescent shaped dappled sunlight

Here's a picture I took of the eclipse on my driveway. Pretty awesome I thought. Didn't realize what it was when I first saw this, but it's the shape of the sun as it shone through the leaves.

I am a bit of a 'Bah Humbug' about these things! I was in my office doing some paper work and it got so dark I had to turn on the lights....that was a bit strange, but that is as close as I got...
