On September 11, 2001, 19 militants associated with the Islamic extremist group al-Qaeda hijacked four airplanes and carried out suicide attacks against targets in the United States. Two of the planes were flown into the twin towers of the World Trade Center in New York City, a third plane hit the Pentagon just outside Washington, D.C., and the fourth plane crashed in a field in Pennsylvania. Almost 3,000 people were killed during the 9/11 terrorist attacks... 9/11 Attacks
Where were you on September 11, 2001?

I was at home. I couldn't believe what I was seeing on the TV.

I have neither forgotten nor forgiven.

I was getting ready to head to the airport to pick up my parents when my son called and told me that ALL flights had been cancelled. I honestly thought it was a hoax. Then he told me to me to turn on the TV. I didn't turn it back off for the next week.

I was in my office at work, someone came in and told me a plane had crashed into a building in NYC. I immediately, went into our cafeteria, where our large screen TV was already on! I stood there for what seemed like hours watching the whole tragedy unfold. After both buildings had dropped, I shut down the business for the day and told folks to go home and be with their families.

I still tear up every time I hear the many names being read on 9/11....! Our world changed that day.....and not for the better!

I live in NY and I work in Jersey City with a perfect view to to the towers.

I take the train to work and I walk under the towers every morning. That day was no different. I was in the towers at about 6:00am

When it all started, I went to my window at work and saw the first tower on fire and I witnessed the plane hit the second tower.

We were all evacuated however I had no way to get home. They were using ferries to get people off of Manhattan and going to Jersey City. There were hundreds of people covered in ash walking past me. It was surreal.

I eventually walked to a nearby Hotel and sat in the lobby with many other people. I helped some college students with some food (they didnt have money) and I helped many people use a phone (my cell phone worked for some reason).

I didnt get home until 9:00pm .

Its scary seeing all of this in person. It took me weeks to be comfortable on trains after the incident.

hftmrock....I worked for Sony and our corporate offices were in New Jersey. I traveled their often. Many of my coworkers had family members in the towers and near the towers. It was a very terrible day for many, including some who I worked with!

Hope we never have to experience something like this again, but I fear we will.....

OMG...how surreal to watch it unfold before your very eyes.

I was at work, and my friend called me to tell me that a plane crashed into one of the towers. I didn't think it was terroristic, just a horrible accident. Then she called back to say that another plane crashed into the other tower. Then we knew it was a terror attack.

Then we found out about the Pentagon. I couldn't believe it!

I will never forget ! May all those who perished RIP.
