Default Possible Hernia

Hi all,
Life is always interesting....I was on a vacation and as always lifted lots of luggage. At the beginning of our trip a few minutes after throwing some luggage around I suddenly had a sharp burning pain emanating from my belly button. After a few minutes it want away, although the area was a bit sensitive to touch. No other problems tell we got home, again moved more luggage...and later that night, the burn returned. When I went to bed it subsided, but when I got up the next morning it was back.

I am thinking I have a hernia and somehow my belly button is partially involved. I called my doctor and am waiting for a call. I know this could be dangerous, so if at some point the pain will not stop, I will go to the emergency room.....

Anyone have experience with this? Can it be related to wait loss? I have lost 55lbs....

Other ideas or comments.....I done a lot of research and I know if it is a hernia, I will have to have surgery which is minor with a recovery of a week to ten days....but if it get's constricted, causing lots of pain that will not stop....it is life threatening as a systemic infection can start!

Isn't it always something...?

My Dad used to tell me if he knew he was going to live so long, he would have taken better care of himself...like Father, like Son!

I had it, my sister had it. Mine was fixed, her's is on hold unless she has more problems. Belly button hernias are common, but yeah, if it is giving you some trouble, you will need a repair. Doc fixed mine during another surgery (didn't know I had it).

I have another one in the left side of my belly which sometimes makes my belly look odd. Only gives me twinges now and then. Didn't even know I had one, but the twinges have increased and will likely need a repair in a year or two. I want to lose 30 pounds before I have that surgery. I don't think weight loss would cause a hernia - it's just there and as time goes on, the hole gets bigger.

Ouch, hate to hear that Div. Just get it taken care of before it becomes something more.

All, I pressed my doctors office....and got in on 11/1 9am. Meanwhile I am being careful not to lift or do anything that would strain my abdominal muscles....
