This site loads slower than any other site I've EVER been on. It takes at least 75 seconds to fully load while it's trying to connect (transferring/waiting for/connecting) with all its "cookies". 195 of them...to be exact. Really...195? And my download speed is 140Mb per second. Please...

Hmm. I'm not seeing that it's much slower than other sites I'm loading (Facebook, twitter, local news, Web email). And my NoScript Firefox extension reports only (!) 30 sites that want to run scripts and Privacy Badger only (!!) six trackers. 195 seems excessive -- like something else is running on your system.

The standard advice -- log out, clear cookies, restart browser,... Have you tried that?

Not my first rodeo with computers or browsers. I use a program called CCleaner. It reports loaded cookies. Trust me...I know how this works. I cleared all the cookies with my browser closed, opened the browser then clicked on DiabetesForum. I then opened up CCleaner and checked the loaded cookies. 195. You can download CCleaner for free yourself and take that out for a test drive.

CCleaner

As an addendum here...I'm also a member of two other highly popular diabetes forums. Each of them only loads five cookies. FIVE!

I know that sites subscribe to cookies to pay the bills...but please...195? Somebody's got a yacht they're paying for!

Bounty, I performance-tested Web sites for several years. I have a few ideas, too.

All I can tell you at this point is that a Mac running High Sierra and Firefox 57.0.4 with lots of script-killers and Privacy Badger, running through Comcast broadband (58.7 Mbps right now), isn't having any problems loading this Web site. My tracert traffic is taking less than a second.

Not denying that this site may seem slow to you but it certainly doesn't seem slow from here. Then again, it sounds like there are a few differences in our computer configurations. Sounds like additional data points are needed.

I get a lot of 'waiting for' and 'transferring data from'. ce.lijit.com took over a minute itself. I also get a Timed Out using trace route around hop 8.

Again...195 cookies? Please...

A ping directly to lijit times out for me right now, but I don't see them on my tracert. Since I'm not loading their code to get to this site, it's not an issue for me.

Don't know what else to say, Bounty. I still don't know why so many cookies seem to be loading on your browser. I'm sure some are so they can keep the lights on here but I agree that 195 is an excessive number.

I also have not seen any other posters mentioning similar page-loading issues. I guess we'll just have to keep an eye out to see if the issue spreads.

I have the same problem at home using Chrome - As a result I access the forums from work most of the time as the network firewall seems to block a lot of the scripts. At work it takes about 10 seconds with Google Chrome and at home it takes about 7 minutes to fully load and my system at home is just chugging when that happens. I have high speed in both places and don't have any issues loading other intense script sites be it SoundCloud, Facebook or any of the video or audio streaming sites I visit.
So ... that's why I'm seldom on over the weekends. I may try different browsers to see if it makes a difference at home but like Bounty - there seems to be a lot going on when I log in from home.

OMG...I thought I was the only one! I keep this site open throughout my workday. I post during breaks. I usually don't post on weekends because it's so sloooooow! I'm not computer savy at all. It took me a while to figure out what cookies were ! Many of the websites I access at home have so many ads and stuff. It takes forever to load. If there was a way (and maybe there is) to forgo all that extra loading for a fee, I would consider paying it .

Have a great day!

Hey @Bounty,

When you see the site hanging up on on ce.lijit.com whether it says Waiting for or Transferring from, do you notice what time of day this occurs? Is it consistent? Please let us know the time of these occurrences including the timezone.

Also, what device/browser are you using? Does this appear across the whole site or just on certain pages? Please link us the URLs if this only occurs on certain pages. Does this persist if you try on another device and/or browser?

Everyone else experiencing the site slowness, please provide the same info as well:

- device/browser
- time of occurrence including timezone
- confirm if you see "ce.lijit.com" in the bottom left corner of your browser during the slowdown or what else it says if it's hanging onto that (these normally should be speeding through quickly)
- same behavior when attempted on a different browser and/or device?

Could you guys also confirm if clearing your cache/cookies and refreshing your browser does anything for you at all or it continues - thank you so much for your cooperation on this.

Cheers,
Nate
