i told her that if i ate that many carbs every day my BG would be over 200. her response was that I should be on more medication so that i can better manage my BG. I told her i eat under 50 carbs a day and my A1c dropped from 7.2 to 5.4 just with diet and metformine. I asked her why i would want to take more medication if i could manage my BG better through diet and exercise. she told the class we were running behind and would have to move on.
its my body, and my health. if i make choices in life that cause me issues, well thats my choice. When others want me to do things that will hurt my body, well i dont have much time for them.

Love your viewpoint. From the nutritionist's point of view she may have wanted to "stuff a sock" in this person who is 'daring' to disagree with what I am teaching.

Grab a copy of The Cholesterol delusion and take it with you. Offer to lend it to them so they can read the references in it. <weg>

When I was through with my diabetes classes, at which I just let all the high carb low fat stuff roll right on by me, I had a solo appointment with the nutritionist. She knew that I was doing HFLC, and said to me "You know I can't officially approve of what you're doing, but your numbers don't lie." I think a lot of them have to "toe the party line" while realizing it is seriously flawed.

Last month I listened to an interview with Dr Mary Vernon and Jimmy Moore. You probably can access it on his website. She talked about how many of her patients had their cholestrol go up very high as they went low carb and lost weight. She said it was from the liver actually clearing the bad cholesterol out and it was present in the blood. Once your weight is stabalized lipids should also stabalize. There is also another blog by Chris Masterjohn. I think it is called the Daily Lipid or something like that.

I "liked" this but had to reply as well because I cannot recommend this enough. It's not worth the stress trying to convince people who aren't looking for new answers.

You KNOW for a fact what high BG will do to you and how quickly it can do it. Focus on that, how your diet is helping you achieve your goals and be non-committal/confrontational when dealing with people who would place higher importance on lab values than your toes.

It's your body, it's your life. You do not have to do what others tell you, explain yourself, defend your beliefs or convince anyone of anything. *HUG*

I've spent too much of my life trying to convince others that I am doing the right thing, explaining to them (trying to 'help' them in an odd way). And, I realize that asking for their approval is just me being unsure and they realize that, so stay on the offensive to convince me otherwise.

Not clear, but the best I can do to share my own thoughts,
