In the meantime, here's some book resources that might help you. A lot of Dr. B's book is on his website.

I've always had bad luck with health professionals - especially the ones that think of themselves as Diabetes experts Lol .....
Thank you, rsfletcher.

That's what I'm trying to do, knowledge is power.

I hear you, I have no faith in any health industry, whether it be diabetes, cancer or anything else.

They had immediately put me on Metformin (2 X 500 2 X per day) a smaller pill that starts with a G, can't think of it right now, and 18 units of Lantas insulin per day.

Was it glyburide? That is a common diabetic med, and I was on it for a while. And my BS would crash repeatedly , if I recall things rightly.

There is a medical dictionary at this site, I use that forum sometimes. And it is an excellent place to find lots of info, on different subjects.

Sorry for the late reply, Squawkx.

No, it's called Apo-Gliclazide Mr (30mg)

I've been off these meds for about 5 weeks now and I'm still getting short sharp chest pains, maybe it wasn't the meds after all.

My numbers have been high lately so I've slowly increased the Lantus to 23 units and finally this morning, I was back in the 5's, 5.9.
