Whats your favorite kind of music?

Although I'm a "Disco Baby" and will always be one, I like lots of different kinds of music. For the past several years I've been listening to ambient music of all types. It keeps me calm, it helps with anxiety and depression, and it helps with coping in general.

Some of my favs are:

Music and memories are inseparable and is the very fabric of my life, experiences, and dreams. I collect music dating back to 1955 and runs thru the 2000's. It includes rock n roll, jazz, new age, pop, folk, disco, blues, acoustic, R&B, dance, instrumental, motown, progressive, soft rock. My favorite bands and groups are Moody Blues, Peter White, Temptations, Bee Gees, Ottmar Liebert, Carpenters, Booker T & MG's, Chris Botti, Wes Montgomery, Talking Heads, Enya, Doobie Brothers, Fleetwood Mac, Hiroshima, Luther Vandros, Steely Dan, Paul Hardcastle, Phil Collins, Simon & Garfunkel, and Joan Baez

I like to listen to listen to all sorts of music. Mom wanted to hear some Toby Keith before bed last night so I found the following for her:

I like pretty much all kinds of music. I'm not deep into rap, but some of it is good music. I've somehow never much gotten into opera; I suppose because so much of it is sung in languages other than English, which made it harder for me to follow. And I will admit to having trouble distinguishing most of today's popular country acts from each other but I'm not usually in a setting in which I can listen to the lyrics, which seem to be more of a differentiator than the melodies. Strangely, though, I love older country, like Jim Reeves, Patsy Cline, and Marty Robbins.

Favorite performers: mostly pop. I think I have everything Dire Straits ever released; new wave bands like Depeche Mode, New Order, and Talking Heads are long-time favorites; and I have more Amy Grant and Leo Kottke albums than anyone would ever suspect.

At one point I had about 600 albums in the house; I've been trying to pare that down because some of those albums get a lot of play and some of those albums just get dusty. Let someone else enjoy them!

I like most forms of 'Classical' music, and love all Rock/ Pop music from around 1960 thru 1972! I also love Country Music from that same era, and some of today's Country also.

I have a theory about this....Back in the 60's and all years before that, all kids had to learn how to read music and were schooled in music appreciation. Additionally, we had to learn to play an instrument, participate in band and/or choirs (it was called part of a well rounded education). Those that had a strong aptitude for music went on to put small bands together and start performing, many in high school. With millions of kids doing this, some eventually became very good and eventually hit the charts....In the 1970's when our schools stopped forcing kids to learn music the lack of real talent eventually turned into few truly talented musicians! Same problem with writers today, very few that can come up with something unique and entertaining...that's why so many remakes in Hollywood, no new material compared to what it used to be like...

DUUUUUUUUUUDE!!! I had such a LOONG list of music I liked going on, then my internet went out!!!! AAARRRGH!

Anyway.........I love Toby Keith, he's one of my favorite country singers. I love his humanity and wit in his music. He can sing about the silly things we do and say, or the harsh realities of life. In either case, he's awesome!

Here's a few of my favorite Toby songs...

I like a little bit of everything. Like most, rap isn't on my list, but I do like some early Missy Elliot.

Donna Summer is my song goddess of all time though.
