An A1C of 7.5 is definitely diabetes (below 6.0 is within the normal range), but considering the number can go upwards to 12 and beyond, a 7.5 is not life threatening. It is of concern.

As you read the threads on this forum, you'll find that the common thread here is that we are all determined to gain and maintain good control. You'll be encouraged by our collective experiences and successes.

A very good resource about diabetes is www.bloodsugar101.com We have come to trust the author of this site because she does the research, and cites here sources. Take a look at the article titled "How To Lower Your Blood Sugar" Controlling diabetes through diet is the best approach if it can be accomplished. Myself and many others here have been able to do just that.

Welcome to the forum, Yolanda! As VeeJay mentioned, there are some excellent sources of information on diabetes in the site she linked. There's also a lot of experience -- and support -- here and, while we're not doctors, we've had our share of things like upset stomachs from Metformin.

How long have you been taking the Metformin? There are different types of Met, some of which are kinder to your stomach. Or you may be able to take a half-dose at different times of the day. Ask your doctor what you can do; it may be easy for him/her to modify your Metformin dosage to help.

Now with less sugar!

A1c 10-30-2019: 5.6 with no meds. Thank you LCHF!

Welcome to the forum.
There are other types of medication as well, so when you go to your doctor, he might prescribe you something else.

HI yolanda, welcome to the forum.

By "different dosages" do you mean amounts or types. They do make an extended release version that is more user friendly. IF you haven't tried it you may want to ask for the ER version of metformin.

Think I've had this since 2003. Told I was Type 2 lean on 2/13/12.
