Default Back on Line!

Hi All,
I have been relatively inactive for some time on this website and finally have my head back on straight, so here I am...

It all started back in March when I had my first Gout attack. Many of you recall my posts regarding that painful situation. Unfortunately these attacks have continue hitting me every 10-12 days since March. I have been on meds to stop this, as it will cause permanent damage to my ankle joints if I cannot slow the frequency. The good news is that over these months the severity and length of the attacks have slowly lessened to a point they are not a problem to my daily activity. Additionally, as of this last two weeks I have had no attacks. Hopefully, this is a breakthrough, I see my doctor on Wednesday and I will see how my Uric Acid is doing.

...enough on that topic for now...

The meds I take for gout have caused me to have severe acid reflex especially when I lay down. Sleeping has been an issue. My Meds for this are not working. I stopped drinking my daily wine glass and all caffeine back in March. I will wrestle my doctor down on this one, it is almost worse than gout, but I just have to work through this also.

Needless, to say my focus on LCHF has not been anywhere near where it should have been. Not that I have pigged out, actually lost a few more pounds, but my infrequent blood testing did not tell a good story, but I was never sure how much was carb intake and how much was being sick and lack of sleep. So I will see what my A1c says and now that I see light... with no gout, right now....I am committed to get back on point with my LCHF life!

Anyway, enough 'oh poor me' and time to get back on the band wagon.....I believe that this gout is a result of my LCHF eating, probably related to the amount of fat I consumed...but I cannot confirm this, although I did stop taking HWC with my morning coffee (Decaf)...and now I have seen a positive change....so maybe this an answer?

More later.....

Glad to see you back. Hope your gout stays away.

At least you have lots of posts to catch up on if your stuck inside because of the weather.

I had noticed you hadn't been on the forum for a while. Sorry about the gout. It can be so painful. Hopefully you'll be able to keep it at bay now.

Good to see you posting again, div!

It's so easy for non-diabetes-related illnesses to pull the spotlight from the routine that has worked for us; good for you for taking the time you need to address the necessary and to get back to what works for you.
