In my younger days, I didn't weigh enough, but lied to give blood for a family member. It's the only time in over 40 years of donating that I felt like crap--almost passed out afterward. Weight is no longer an issue with donating.
The weight requirement is because people who don't weigh a certain amount have a lower blood volume and donation takes too much from them. At five pounds over you were still borderline for being able to donate.
