sharps container for pen needles?

Where do you guys keep your pen needles when you are out and about?

thus far I throw them in the bottom of my purse, but I am pretty sure that isn't a good idea. Even though they are capped, the cap could come out, the needle could fall out of my purse, or I could jab myself good when feel around for other things.

All the sharps containers out there tend to be for at home use and are fairly large. Any ideas?

Is this too big? Sez it fits into coat pocket or carry bag. Sounds like it's big enough to accept syringes, so mebbe too big?

Would a empty test strip cannister be big enough to hold one? I tried a BD 4mm pen needle and placed it in an empty OneTouch Ultra test strip container and it fit fine. However, it only holds one and you might need more than that.

It may not help, but I keep my earbuds in a small, half-size metal container that some breath mints came in and it might work fine for that.

Hope this idea helps,

I realize this idea does not pertain to the original post, but the metal containers Pat mentioned are also great for holding new tea bags in your purse or pocket. Sometimes when we visit friends who are not tea drinkers, the tin gives me a chance to enjoy my herbal tea.

I keep an empty medicine jar in my purse for them. I like the hard plastic ones the best.

A big medicine bottle just might be the ticket! Not sure about the size of those in that Link Shanny although it does say something about mm. Perhaps I can measure it out and see what that turns out to be. I don't think a needle cutter would work with the pen needles since there is a needle on the inside portion (you could technically still poke yourself with it if you hit it at the right angle with a finger tip) and outside. I usually need more room than the size of a test strip container since there are days where my sugar just won't behave and I have to use more than one needle. And definitely not when going away for the weekend. Thanks for all the good ideas!!!
