Sorry, not really able to add anything much. Not sure how quickly rice hits you. And it's you that matters.

Ideally the best strategy is to find out for yourself by testing without the noise on the line of your exercise and protein shake.

See what the numbers are after an hour, then after two. Try various meals along the lines of the suggestions you'll find here. Blood Sugar 101 in this section How to Lower Your Blood Sugar

Thanks John, really appreciated your advise and links.

BTW, you know what? I just asked my wife to re-serve the rice (exactly like she gave me on the diner) and weight it. It is 100gr.....

This is an example that "guessing" is truly not recommended.

I think, for the next couple days, I will spend lots of strips to my "little project"..

Again John, merci beaucoup.

Anyway, I'd like to have some opinion on below case.
18:50 ; BG 119 - bolus 3 unit
19:00 ; take my diner with carb around 30gr
19:30 ; gym-strength training, medium resistance
20:00 ; finish gym. take shower
20:19 ; BG 80 --- no shaking, feel fresh
20:20 ; take my protein shake. 0% fat-0%carb-0%sugar-0%chol-23gr protein
20:48 ; BG 165
21:13 ; BG 118

guys, please tell me whats wrong? As far as I know, my One touch ultra easy is on perfect condition. Always compare with my lab test every 3 months.

Also, assuming my meter is right and forget about the 20:48 test result, please tell me whether I'm riding a "right horse"? Of course I understand that 1 case can't represent the perfect condition
Are you bolusing according to the amount of carbs you are eating. For instance my carb:insulin ratio is 1u insulin for every 12g carbs I eat. So my insulin would be 2.5u for the food. My correction factor is 1u for for every 50 points I am above 100 pre meal. So if my BG were 175 i would need 1.5 units to correct my high BG. My entire bolus would then be 4u total pre meal.

Your factors may be different. Mine were given to me by my Dr. I have tweaked them as I see fit and some have different factors throughout the day

Hi Marsh, thanks for the tips and I think it works for me.

BTW, I started to get a "lazy" feeling after bolus-ing. Like this morning, 1 hr after bfast, I felt lazy, no power (not tired). I checked by BG and it read 142.

But then slowly, I regain back my "energy" and back to normal.

A good book to use is Using Insulin by John Walsh. I use Pumping Insulin by the same author because well I'm a pumper Same premise though. I still use the basal/bolus method just with one type of insulin. I still have to know my ratios to input into my pump.

I cant find this book at my local bookstore and also cant find any ebook.

So, I registered on Amazon and bought this book just now. I have to pay extra $10 for a standard shipping and will take around 15 days to arrive.... ho...ho...

Nevertheless, I know this book is a good investment for me.

It will help you immensely. I refer to it all the time when I feel my numbers need tweaking.
