Default Smaller needles for humolog pen

Wow does anyone know if I can get smaller as in shorter needles for my humolog pen? I was given novolog pens as samples to start on insulin from the doc. He wrote the script for humolog and the pharmacy gave me these giant 1/2 inch long needles! Those things are scary and not pleasant to use compared to those tiny needles like novolog and Levemir use...

Although I'm on a pump my needles for my Humalog pens are 0.25mm x 8mm, 31G x 5/16". Made by BD

i have just gone from 8mm to 4mm. It's nice.
