let NO ONE use your testing equipment! At least not the lancet device. It says so on the box, but, who reads that?

I tested my son, age 16, about 4X using my meter and lancet. I had some concerns about his blood sugar levels, but they were quite normal. However, I now have reason to believe he's been using drugs, and having unprotected sex! Yes, I am quite concerned about him, but now also concerned about myself. sharing used needles, who would think that would apply to the immediate family!

Just my PSA--public service announcement. If you don't follow safety procedures ALL of the time, its the same as none of the time!

I used to change the lancet each time, but then read in a couple of places that people re-use, so I tried changing just once a day. When I didn't have any problems, I let it go longer. Now I set myself a reminder to change mine on the 15th of the month :)

However, wysiwyg295 has a point (no pun intended!) If you have a high reading, could the blood left on the lancet affect your reading?

So now I might adapt my methods. I can either wipe away the first drop of blood, change the lancet, or wipe it with alcohol. I think I'll change it more often, maybe once a week.
