not working anymore
i have been taking symlin for about a month now and have gotten to the maint dose of 60mcg. i had no sickness feeling like i was told i would most likely have, i increased my dose every 3-7 days as instructed. at first it seemed to work in the part that i felt full and it lasted a bit, but now that i have gotten to and been on the maint dose of 60 mcg it seems to have stopped working. i dont feel full anymore, i am still trying to not each as much like i was before. it had not helped with my numbers in anyway i eat much less, hardly anything at all anymore, and i still cant get my numbers down, insulin just doesnt seem to work anymore for me. i dont eat like i did when i first was diagnosed. back then 10 years ago, my endo and diatitian had me on a schedule of 3 meals of 60 carbs and 2 snacks 30 carbs taking two diff insulins cant remember which, nph and something else all i remember is i mixed them together in the am, took one at dinner and one at bed and my numbers were great, so good the doc actually told me at one point my a1c was borderline too low. and it stayed this way for a few years until i started college.
i was going to school fulltime working when i could, having trouble so me and my fiance at the time decided to try for assistance, when we were at the food stamp office we had toshow all insurance and any type of other state assistance we already had, i was at the time on medicaide or medicare which ever it is for low income families, the lady said well you dnt live at home anymore and with your student loans you no longer qualify and ripped up my card, i began to have to pay for my own insulin out of pocket so i had to start working fulltime my grades started slipping and eventually due to stress i dropped out of school. this is when my numbers started to slip. i was having to buy the cheapest insulin i could which was walmarts relion. after doing this for about a year i was able to qualify for humalogs assistance program and they sent me free insulin. but i still had trouble getting back on track, for years i seemed to be on a roller coaster. i tried diffrent diets, i kept to the meal my endo had me on, cut out the snacks, tried dividing up me meals into several micro meals a day with MDI's, tried lchf diet, exercise everything. it seemed to work here and there but was still unstable just a roller coaster. now it doesnt matter what i do, i just cant get my numbers down, they seem to stay from 225 to 350. the stress of this is just bearing down on me, i dont know what to do, its effecting me, at home work, i feel so withdrawn just thinking about how its effecting me and my body.
