Default Levemir expiration question

I have several boxes of Levemir FlexPens that expire August 31, 2016. They are unopened and refrigerated. Can I still use them? Thank you for any information

I've found the expiration dates on exogenous insulins are more of a guideline than a hard fact. It's not like on August 31st they're 100% effective...and on September 1st they're useless. And they won't go bad like milk does...all they'll do is lose their potency.

If it's a money thing I'd use them and keep track of how effective they are. For instance: If you use 20 units each injection and it takes 30 units to get the same results...you might consider getting new insulin.

Thank you for replying. I think I will continue using them as they are just too expensive to just throw out. I just needed a little "reassurance" that it is ok.
