Diabetes cases to soar by 700,000 as obesity epidemic takes its toll | Mail Online
Has anyone got a Daily Mail account? I tried to leave a comment and was only told after trying to post it that I needed one. I was FURIOUS at some person who claimed to be a diabetic nurse that type 2 was a 'self-inflicted' condition, and because we all get free prescriptions, this is why the NHS is in such a bad state. I have complained about them, since this is exactly the sort of comment which could stop people coming forward to investigate their condition. Are you overweight? It's your fault, and don't come running to us when you get type 2. You've broken the NHS and that's why my aging mother can't have a hip replacement.
I did see other articles in other papers on this in which there were some pleasantly well informed people. They all but mentioned "Eat to your meter" which to my mind is the key for a large number of people. I accept that some type 2's do very well on fruit and veggies, I just don't happen to be one of them! I long for the day when 'tailored' diets are exactly like that. Everyone is an individual.
Anyway, if anyone is able to, ha ha, weight in, it would be good to get some intelligence shining forth....
