Very interesting article. I just wrote the authors to get the full article (full access is behind a pay screen), because the abstract in Diabetes Care (not surprisingly -- there are strict word limits to abstracts) omits 'little' details like BG and lipid levels. Clearly those are important in figuring out practical implications for those of us with diabetes. If/when I get it, I'll try to summarize what I find.

Aside/rant: Having done & published research for decades, I think it's ridiculous -- though understandable by publishing houses wanting to make as much $ as possible-- that taxpayer-funded research is not freely accessible to us all via the web. More of that is happening in basic sciences (math, physics etc), but medical research lags woefully in free and easy access. Count this as just one more reason why health care is so expensive -- and it's a cost that could be reduced a LOT.
