Not news to a lot of people on this forum but an idea of why Doctors are so ready to prescribe medications.

Three of the top 20 are for type 2 diabetes.

Which explains why doctors are pushing these drugs right away after diagnosis rather than prescribing metformin and diet change.

You can see from the newly diagnosed diabetics who find their way here that they are really pushing Victoza right now. It seems to be touted as a weight loss drug, and since too many doctors think excess weight is the cause of diabetes, they are eager to prescribe it to get their patients to lose weight while supposedly improving blood glucose as well--albeit with dangerous side effects.

Add incentives to prescribe it and it's no wonder we are seeing so many newly diagnosed patients taking it.

The LCHF way of eating doesn't bring any profit to Big Pharma, so maybe that is why these expensive drugs are promoted so heavily. If you watch television at all, especially in the evening, the new drugs are on almost every station - even satellite. With the profit that Big Pharma has from old drugs and new drugs - why bother with a cure for diabetes? There is no profit in a cure.
