Wouldn't this gadget make the pancreas work harder and damage and destroy the beta cells faster?

A matchbox-sized gadget called Diamond (Diabetes Improvement And Metabolic Normalisation Device) can be implanted under the skin on the belly. When you start eating, it starts delivering small, painless electrical impulses into the stomach muscles. The boost in muscle movement causes more insulin to be released. Studies on this device suggest this leads to long-term lowering of bg levels in overweight people with type-2 diabetes.

I'm not sure about that kind of device, either. Most type 2's still produce insulin but the insulin is not recoginsed or the signals between the pancreas and liver are screwed up. What usually burns out the beta cells is many years of over producing insulin. So I think you are right especially if they are still eating a high carb diet like the cupcake in the picture.

Thanks for the information. The cupcake grossed me out when I thought about all the carbs.

Not so sure it was the cupcake that was gross, or that gawdawful lipstick! My computer at least, registered it as a very bright puce!
