Keto ranked last as best diet for 2018 .... REALLY?

Saw this on CNN a few minutes ago; they did not even report correctly what a keto diet or lifestyle is. Running down the list of diets I can assure you that I have tried quite a few over the past five years on my diabetes journey. In June my A1C was 6.5; started LCHF in August 2017 now my A1C is 5.7; I doubt any of those diets or lifestyle changes can match the results I obtained following a keto lifestyle.

I wonder how much influence came from the sponsors ads you see on the news channels.

I think they should of consulted with us first.

There literally isn't a lifestyle that I haven't tried.

For me, KETO is the only one that has controlled my diabetes.

Playing devils advocate, this is about Dieting and not diabetes.

How many of us would do a Keto Lifestyle if they were not diabetic. I am not sure I would. I dont know.

I am very grateful I found Keto and found this site because of my diabetes but would I have done this without diabetes? no potatoes no bread , no pasta , no fruit? I dont know

My reason for choosing KETO wasn't weight loss related.

It was 100% to control diabetes.

That's an important point.

I was low-carbing (well, what the rest of the world calls 'low' :surprise:) long before I went ultra-low-carb and there were lots of things then on which I felt I was missing out -- and I was never a person who really enjoyed drinking beer or who had to have dessert at every meal. Keto out of choice? Nope. But if it keeps my T2 and its bad stuff away, I'm all over it.

hftmrock,

You bring up a good point. However, there was a breakdown for reasons to diet such as best to lose weight, easiest to follow and best for diabetes. They listed Mediterranean Diet as the best and DASH as second for Diabetes.

I can vouch that I tried both of these; they each had some benefit in terms of small amount of weight loss and lowering some blood pressure; but horrific for blood sugar in my case.

Keto has been the only one so far where I have lost significant weight; dropped my A1C and lowered my BP over a period of 5 months; no other diet/lifestyle has been able to come close to these results. If I get my blood glucose under control then all the other issues start to fall in place.

They weren't talking about keto at all. The proof of that is that they described it as mandating "tons of protein". This is an old Atkins-bashing myth from at least 20 years ago. In fact, keto requires limiting protein just as it requires limiting carbs. So, they're either extremely ignorant or lying intentionally for some agenda known to them.

Pure nonsense, not even worth the time to read it and big shame on CNN.

I don't understand the basis of this hysterical fear of and enmity toward keto. The profit incentive is obvious, but it must be more than that to explain the lengths to which they're willing to take their propaganda.
