Default Metformin Recall in Canada

Product: Certain brands of diabetes drugs containing metformin.

Issue: Products contain a nitrosamine impurity, N-nitrosodimethylamine (NDMA), above or close to the acceptable limit.

I think this is the same contaminate that the FDA has put out recalls in some blood pressure medications. Wonder what the actual measured numbers were that are claimed as above and near acceptable levels? Not sure I would trust self tested results. Sounds like cancer risks aren't raised with "at acceptable" levels over 70 years of exposure. Not sure I would trust that either.

I wonder if thats why I cannot currently get my MetforminXR 1000mg ... my local pharmacy isnt expecting any until year’s end and in the meantime I hav to take 500s instead.

The FDA hasn't recalled Metformin so far. I went to the FDA site. You can search recalls by type. Under medical devices there are recalls on everything from bg meters to cochlear implants and defibrillators.
