Smile Strange symptoms - fellow forum people need your advice

Hi Guys,

Im 29yr old female and have currently had some strange symptoms the past 2 months. First symptom I have noticed is tingling which started in both hands and then in the feet. Also my feet and hands feel like jelly thats really the only way I can describe this.

I also was suffering postural hypotension (dizzy when standing) BP(80/60) standing and BP(110/60) sitting but I put this down to not drinking enough water through the day. Today I was busy and forgot to eat and prior to the time I finally ate I was at dinner and I thought I was about to faint and felt weak and horrible.

So I had a look at my old blood test results because I visited the doctor on two occasions regarding the tingling and on the 5/12/12 my random glucose was 7.4 and on the 15/12/12 it was 4.7

Does this sound like anything strange? Im going to go to the doctors to get some fasting glucose tests done to check it out as the tingling in hands and feet and jelly feeling has returned and I find it weird about the 7.4 glucose reading as im pretty sure I had not eaten a large meal or sugary food before I had the test.

How long to people actually have diabetes before diagnosed? And how much does the blood glucose levels fluctuate from normal to abnormal?

Thanks guys

By the way, the jelly feeling and tingling is not always there.. been feeling it more at night, more when im active, and it went away for a few weeks (and now resurfaced its ugly head just a week ago) I am also on the underweight side 46kg and 163cm tall, and suffer high iron at times (last time i checked ferritin was high) Also when I was discussing about feeling yuck because I didnt get to grab some food I felt better about an hour after i ate.. hope this helps

Sometimes people go undiagnosed for a decade or more.

I would request an Oral Glucose Tolerance Test, and since you are underweight (and really even if you were overweight!), if that comes up positive, GAD-65 antibody testing.

Hello! The test you really need is the A1C, which is an average of your BG for the last 3 months or so. Also, you can get a cheap meter and strips at Walmart and test before and after meals to make sure you never go over 7.8, which is the danger zone. Good luck!

An A1c might help, but the OGTT is really best.

My hands and feet get tingly when my potassium is low.
