Default Are these related to diabetes?

Hey guys,
I'm new to the forum and hope to get some information and advice on my situation.

From as long as I can remember, I've been a sugar addict. I can eat a number of chocolate bars, sweets, soft drinks consecutively without getting sick of it.

A few years ago, I had cut sugar consumption except fruits and after the third day I felt better, I was more energetic, happier and another symptom I had was lower sexual desire. However I couldn't hold on and again went back to my old ways.

I have again cut my sugar intake and currently have very similar changes.
-I have much better concentrarion
-I feel more energetic, for example I sleep way less
-lower sexual desire
-I get strong hunger attacks and tend to eat more in meals
-I feel a slight bit of more confidence in me.

Can this be related to diabetes? or hypoglecima and insulin resistance?

Or maybe these are normal reactions?

thank you for your time,

Sugar is like a drug. It's a comfort food and Lord knows...we all like comfortable. When you start starving your body of sugar treats it rebels. It's as much a physical addiction as a psychological one and it's pure evil for anyone that is, or is becoming diabetic.

I suggest you do this. See your doctor and arrange all the appropriate diabetic tests. They'll take a blood sample and maybe a urine test. Catching this in its early stages trumps everything else. The less damage you do the healthier you'll be in the long run. If you feel lab testing isn't necessary at this point...stop by WalMart, if you have one in your area, and pick up one of their Relion meters & strips. Cheap, and accurate testing technology. Test your blood just after you get up in the morning; then test it again an hour after a meal that contains about 50 carbohydrates; then 2 hrs after that same meal. Those home-tests will give you an insight into how you're doing.

Come back when your home tests/lab tests have been done and let us know what you've found. And welcome to the forum.

Thanks for the reply, I live in Albania and there there isn't Wallmart here. But I will see a doctor to make sure. Maybe I can order Relion meters & strips from the internet, I will make some research on that. Anyway I totally agree with you sugar is a drug and its hard to get away from it.

Thanks again,

Albania, huh? WalMart says they do not ship outside the US. Check here...

As to purchasing over the internet for diabetic supplies; I have read of several people who've found good prices through eBay. Shipping to Albania from eBay might be another thing...I'm not sure. There might even be sellers on eBay from Albania. I know that the UK has their own eBay site... you might even try there.

At any speed...testing supplies is a must, no matter the cost.

Good luck.
