Unhappy Any help appreciated

So I recently went for training for the army on the weekend, I left Friday and stayed until Sunday. When I woke up Friday, I woke up with a headache and it pretty much lasted until Sunday coming and going.

While at training for the weekend I was always cold, sometimes I would start to shake (and I still am to this day). I felt numbness in my feet every once in awhile, but I couldn't decide if it was because my boots were to tight.

When I got home I went to sleep right away. That night I woke up with a huge puddle of sweat all around me (bed sweats I think?), I had to change my sheets and this is the first time this has happened. I also had to get up twice to go to the washroom, which I never do while sleeping. Throughout the rest of the day I have been getting numbness in my legs and feet, sometimes my feet will tingle and it will be a slight pain for a few seconds. I have also have been thirsty all day no matter how much water I drink. I have a physical in 2 days so I am going to ask to get tested while I am there.

I am 6'1 and 155 pounds. Thank you for reading this and for any response.

I think you should see a doctor about this immediately. Perhaps, if you experience these extreme symptoms again, go to the ER. IF you suspect diabetes, and if you are, indeed, experiencing high blood sugar levels, don't wait so long that you go into a coma.

Thank you for the response. Yes I was thinking if I continue to feel like this, or have bed sweats tonight I will go for sure. Thank you for your response.

Welcome aboard, BC. You can always get a testing meter of your own right away (cheapest I've found is Walmart's ReliOn Prime. The meter and strips come separately, but total about $25 for both meter & 50 strips) & you'll be able to test first thing you wake up as well as around all your meals. This will tell you all the information you need to know to manage - it's called eat-to-your-meter.

Keep us posted on what turns up at your physical . . . my advice would be to also get tested for GAD autoimmune antibodies and c-peptide. Given your weight and prob'ly your youth, if you're diabetic at all, you could be type 1 or 1.5 (LADA).

Ok thank you And I will for sure keep you posted after my physical. If I tell my doctor this info and what is happening to me will I be scheduled to be tested right away? Or will I have to wait.

There's really no telling what their time frame is . . . my own doc gets my test results in a matter of hours from the time of my blood draw, but I haven't had the GAD test or c-peptide.

I would emphasize what the others have said though: If you have another episode like you described here, run - don't walk - to ER.

I'm thinking don't wait for another event.

What you are experiencing could be a virus/bacteria. But it could be something else. If you are still chilled or otherwise symptomatic, I vote call your doctor or go to urgent care.

Do you have a family history of diabetes (any type)? At any time previous has a doctor said you should watch your blood glucose?

I want to add to the chorus encouraging you to see your doctor. It could be diabetes or a combination of other factors. I hope it's an easily solved issue, in any case! Not that I don't want to see you here, but it's kinda like I tell my mechanic, "Hope to not see you soon!"

No I don't believe anyone in my family has any type of diabetes. I called my doctor and will be going in a few hours. I will update you on what happens tomorrow, when I will have time.
