Default Up coming urinalysis

I don't know whether to post this here or in nutrition as it I guess is a bit of both. My Dr called and I had protein in my urine so she added a new BP med for that. This was right after I was diagnosed, but before I started eating LCHF, which she doesn't know yet. I am to go see her in 3 months for a follow up, but in 2 weeks am scheduled for a follow up urinalysis. Since I am doing LCHF, I am pretty sure I will be in ketosis, so do I need to change up something before I go for the pee test? Dr is probably going to be hyper vigilant as she missed my elevated levels on my previous physical, so basically I have been going untreated, and unmanaged for over a year. Hope this makes sense, and thanks for the help

I have been on LCHF successfully since 5/1/2015.....my UA has never been an issue with my doctor. Once, early on I too had some protein, but he believed it was due to my increased activity levels.

I see him every 90 days and once he got over the shock of my eating HIGH FATS....as my Cholesterol remained on target for diabetics and my blood pressure dropped to normal (due to my weight loss of 50lbs). In the last year nothing in my urine has been a problem!

I just didn't want her going into "panic or CYA mode" since I haven't had a visit to let her know my choice of LCHF.

Katie......

I fully understand, but let me tell you once you get further into LCHF for a few months....your doctor will Freak, Panic, CYA mode, etc. it is inevitable because most of them have never heard of this approach....but when your health results keep improving she will quit bugging you....

When I went to my doctor and my A1c was 5.8, he said keep it closer to 6.0 (as he did not want me to have a low BS problem).

When he saw my blood pressure was 120/80 he had to check it himself, when he saw my weight was down 50lbs, he finally asked me what I was doing! I started out by saying eating very low carb, targeting less then 50/day. He said great, but do not be afraid to go up to 100. Then I went on to tell him that I was offsetting my low carbs by eating fats...like bacon and eggs for dinner, heavy whipping cream with my coffee, steaks, pork, hamburgers, lots of cheese....he interrupted my by putting his hands over his ears...and said I do not want to hear this!???! Then he just smiled and said, all your numbers are improving more than ever before. Keep it up and we will watch for any problems.....

Since then he has been fully supportive....as he has never seen these results from someone my age, weight, diabetic, etc. in just 6 short months.....

It was fun...for both of us....if he had not adopted/accepted what I was doing, I would have found a new doctor....

So have fun with this.....

Yes, I really like my Dr, and am willing to give her a chance to "redeem" herself lol. However, I will change if she gives me too much grief about it
