The pharmacist is certainly a doctor, Doctor of Pharmacy. The mission of the profession of pharmacy is to improve public health through ensuring safe, effective, and appropriate use of medications.

If he procures a PhD in pharmacology, he is indeed a doctor.

The degee is a PharmD. If no PharmD, the person is not a PHARMACIST. Could be a pharmacy technician who is permitted to do pharmacy functions, including dispense medication and consultations under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist.

The 'doctor' thing is both controversial and annoying (my opinion) ...

Dentists want to be called Dr.
Attorneys aren't called Dr even though they have a JD
PhDs are called Dr in acadamia but most aren't called Dr either

For our purposes, I think we can all agree that a pharmacist is not a physician. That doesn't mean they aren't respected for their knowledge and important role in the health-care chain.

Shanny and Patdart like this.
